Man accused of killing A&M coed in US illegally

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KWTX) The man accused of murdering a Texas A&M coed last weekend in College Station is in the United States illegally, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told KBTX-TV in Bryan.

The agency has placed an immigration hold on Victor Manuel Garcia-Loyo, 22, of Mexico, who remains in the Brazos County Jail charged with murder.

Bond on the murder charge is set at $500,000.

He’s held without bond on the immigration hold.

Garcia-Loyo is charged in the Sept. 17 shooting death of Maricarmen Quiroz-Octaviano, 21.

She was killed during a domestic disturbance. at the Scandia Apartments at 401 Anderson St. in College Station

Quiroz-Octaviano was an A&M senior who was studying genetics, KBTX repoted.

She also worked as a promotions assistant at 98.3 KORA and often co-hosted the Saturday morning show on sister station Radio Alegria 1240 AM.
