A man who local deputies believe tried to run a woman driving his children off the interstate has been arrested.

Wesley Takquan Lewis, 24, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of endangering a child-imminent danger.

According to officials with the McLennan County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested Lewis on the northbound side of I-35 near West Sunday.

Officials say, according to reports, Lewis, who was driving a silver sedan, was trying to run a woman, driving a Jeep carrying a three-year-old and a six-year-old, off the road.

Witnesses told deputies the sedan looked like it was trying to push the jeep into the cement barrier.

When deputies questioned Lewis, he reportedly told them he was trying to see his children, officials say.

Lewis remained in the McLennan County Jail Tuesday in lieu of bonds totaling $60,000.
