Investigators asked for the public’s help Friday as they search for leads in an attack at a Temple motel that claimed the life of the motel’s 44-year-old owner.

Officers found Manish Patel severely injured after responding just before 3:50 a.m. on Feb. 12 to the Econo Lodge at 1001 North General Bruce Dr. in Temple.

“Detectives found that the victim had been assaulted by an individual who subsequently left the scene,” police spokeswoman Ellen Morton said in a press release Friday.

Patel was taken to Scott & White Medical Center where he died on Sunday.

Further details weren’t released Friday.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500 or to call Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS.
