KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Police were looking for a dark colored SUV or van Friday after a man tried to entice a Killeen elementary school student into the vehicle with the promise of a bicycle.

The boy’s mother notified East Ward Elementary School officials Friday about the incident, which happened at around 3:40 p.m. Thursday.

“The student reported that the man offered the student a bicycle to come to the vehicle,” East Ward Elementary Principal Norma Baker said in a recorded message sent to parents.

“The student did the right thing,” she said.

“He ran back to the school and got away from the vehicle.”

The boy said the man was white, in his mid- to late-20s and had a light brown beard.

The man was driving a dark blue four-door SUV or van.

On Nov. 30, a student at Skipcha Elementary School at 515 Prospector Trail in Harker Heights told school officials a stranger had threatened to abduct from the campus a day before.

"The alleged threat transpired at approximately 10:45 am on (Nov. 29) near the playground area," according to a message sent to parents from the school's principal, Jane Apodaca.
