Man who killed Army veteran behind local 7-Eleven store sentenced

BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Keith Louis Marinnie, Jr.,of Killeen, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to charges stemming from the May 2017 shooting death of Travis James Granger, 29, also of Killeen.

Granger, 29, an Army veteran who deployed twice to Afghanistan, was shot on May 5, 2017 behind a 7-Eleven store at 1293 South Fort Hood Street in Killeen.

He was taken to Metroplex Hospital in Killeen where he was pronounced dead.

Granger joined the Army in August 2006 and left the service in June 2016.

He rose to the rank of sergeant in October 2011.

He deployed to Afghanistan from April 2011 to April 2012 and again from January 2013 to September 2013.

He was stationed at Fort Hood from October 2012 until June 2016.

His awards and decorations included four Army Commendation Medals and four Army Achievement Medals.
