TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) The Central Texas Marines organization hosted its 6th annual Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast event Saturday morning.

The event was hosted at the American Legion Post 133 in Temple.

The room was filled with active, retired and former Marines and Navy personnel who served alongside them.

Chatter in the room included people socializing and sharing stories.

The guest of honor this year was Colonel William D. Bauer. He is a native of Waco and attended the United States Naval Academy.

Committee member Ed Bandas says he is proud to see how much the breakfast has grown.

In 2011 the breakfast had 13 men in attendance in a kitchen in Salado.

Six years later it has turned into a tradition that attracts more than 200 from across the area.

"It's just a wonderful place to be with our brother and sister Marines right here in Central Texas," Bendas said.

"Knowing that we all have a sharing experience and being able to pass that along to each is really what the Marine Corps is all about. "
