Marlin: Council names new detective as interim chief
The City of Marlin has named an interim chief of police after it's last chief resigned amid controversy.
During a specially called meeting Monday night, city council voted unanimously to appoint James Hommel as the interim chief.
Hommel, a former police chief in Oakwood, took a job as a detective with Marlin PD in mid-April.
Hommel will take over temporarily as the City of Marlin begins the search for a permanent replacement for Lawrence McCall, the city's fifth chief in as many years.
June 1 was the last official day on the job for McCall who resigned two weeks ago and later attempted to rescind the resignation but failed.
