MARLIN, Texas (KWTX) There's a new Chief of Police in Marlin, a Falls County city that's encountered extreme law enforcement hurdles in recent years.

Lawrence McCall was sworn-in during Tuesday night's city council meeting.

McCall, who moved to Marlin from the DFW area, is a former Dallas County constable.

McCall did not respond to KWTX's multiple requests for comment.

He's the fifth (permanent) police chief the city has had in five years.

McCall is replacing former Marlin Police Chief Nathan Sodek who committed suicide in August amid being served a warrant for sexual assault.

Sodek had taken over after Chief Mike Pesses who resigned in Aug. 2018 after a year on the job.

The previous chief, Damien Eaglin, resigned in April 2017 citing a hostile work environment.

Eaglin took control of the department after Chief Darrell Allen was shot and killed while working a security job off-duty on Halloween night, 2015.
