MCGREGOR, Texas Mike Singletary, the Hall of Fame Chicago Bears linebacker and former Baylor Bear, will be the special guest at the Rhett Revolution's inaugural fundraising event, "The BIG Impact."
"Rhett Revolution is excited and honored to have a Baylor and NFL legend serve as our inaugural keynote speaker, and we look forward to our expansion of service, support and kindness," said Keith Boles, president of Rhett Revolution, a nonprofit organization that provides support for grieving families who have experienced the death of a child.
The organization also operates the McGregor Food Pantry and provides financial support for local students.
"The BIG Impact" begins at 6:30 p.m. on December 21, 2019. It will be held at The Exchange, located at 300 S. Jefferson Avenue in McGregor, Texas.
Organizers said the evening will consist of a reception, dinner, a silent auction and a keynote address by Singletary.
Singletary played college football for Baylor University and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft.
The Baylor legend won a Super Bowl with Chicago in 1985 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
Rhett Revolution was formed by classmates, friends and family to honor the life of Rhett Hering, who tragically died as a result of an ATV wreck in December, 2015.
"Rhett had an uncommon ability to spread joy and kindness to all of those around him, especially those on the margins. Encouraged by Rhett's example, Rhett Revolution is currently involved in acts of service," a news release states.
