Moody: Church leads "Better Day" community service event

MOODY, Texas (KWTX) Residents in the city of Moody came together Saturday with one goal: cleaning the city and making it a “Better Day.”

Even with the chance of severe storms, that didn't stop the 250-plus volunteers from participating in the day of service hosted by The Well Church.

Some of the service projects included street cleaning, repainting handrails, and landscaping at the library.

“We wanted to see a chance for the community to come together and everyone to pitch it. It's not about the church, it's not about one organization, it's about the whole community and bringing us together to bring a better day to Moody,” Pastor Jared McClure said.

Volunteers were also served free lunch by the Girl Scouts, and the Moody High School culinary arts class prepared desserts.

“We are hoping to instill the service in our kids, serving their community and taking pride in their community,” Teresa Rogers told News 10.

She says it was great to see everyone come together to clean the city. Church members say they were happy to be part of “Better Day.”

“We tried projects in the past to help the community. This is something that I love to do and it just feels great to be part of something so awesome,” Kristi Eck said.

Volunteers also helped paint and clean up a home in the city.

Other local groups, including Moody ISD and the City of Moody joined in the community service efforts.

Organizers say they hope next year is even bigger and better.
