Woman who died at local hospital after motorcycle crash identified

Police Thursday identified a woman who died at a local hospital after she lost control of her motorcycle in a turn and the bike veered off East Central Texas Expressway in Harker Heights as Loretta Townsend, 58, of Belton.
The accident was reported just after 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Townsend was riding east in the 100 block of Central Texas Expressway and was slowing to make a right turn onto a private drive when she lost control of her 2010 Honda Goldwing.
Initial reports indicated she suffered serious head injuries in the crash.
She was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple where she later died.
No autopsy was ordered, but a blood sample was taken for toxicology testing.
The accident remains under investigation.
