Teenager killed in motorcycle-SUV crash identified

Police are investigating an accident that killed a teenage motorcyclist late Tuesday night in Waco.

Authorities identified the victim Wednesday afternoon as Nelson Llano, Jr. 19, of Waco.

At around 10:30 p.m. Monday officers were sent to the 700 block of North Valley Mills Drive in response to a report of the crash.

Officers say a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling north on Valley Mills Drive, when the bike struck a Dodge Durango whose driver was pulling out of a business parking lot.

The impact of the crash killed the motorcyclist.

“Investigators have determined that speeding on the part of the motorcyclist is the cause of the crash,” Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said in a press release.

“Witnesses to last night’s crash stated the bike was swerving and changing lanes at a high rate of speed,” he said.
