Deputies from Williamson County tried to stop a car on Interstate 35 for reckless driving early Tuesday morning, but the driver sped off, starting a multi-county chase.
The chase quickly entered Bell County around 3:50 a.m.
Bell county deputies followed the vehicle as the chase continued into McLennan County.
McLennan County deputies laid down spike strips near mile marker 319 in the northbound lanes, but the driver didn’t stop until he reached Lorena, six miles farther north.
The driver, whom police identified as Matthew Almanza, 27, of Raymondville, was arrested.
He was in the Bell County Jail Tuesday facing an evading arrest charge.
A female passenger wasn’t taken into custody.
No one was injured.
