MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) A multi-vehicle crash Friday night claimed the life of one person and closed the interstate for several hours.
According to Sgt. Ryan Howard with the Texas Department of Public Safety, just before 11 p.m. a Chevrolet vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Luis Pina-Narvaez, crashed into the back of a truck towing a trailer as it merged in a traffic zone.
The car became entrapped under the trailer, causing a fire that killed the Pina-Narvaez.
Another vehicle ran into the back of the wreckage, however, they were able to escape safely.
The interstate was closed down for several hours but reopened around 6 a.m.
