CAMERON, Texas (KWTX) Police late Thursday afternoon identified the victim of deadly shooting in Cameron and said two brothers were arrested in the death.

Courtney Latrell Williams, 32, died of a shotgun wound to the head early Wednesday evening in the 400 block of South Jefferson Avenue in Cameron.

John Melton, 45, and his brother, Alvin Melton, 35, were arrested at the scene and taken to the Milam County Jail, police said.

John Melton was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Alvin Melton was charged with murder, police said.

The two brothers were arguing when John Melton threatened Alvin Melton with a knife, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Thursday.

Alvin Melton went to his bedroom and got a Mossberg 500 shotgun with a pistol grip with which he confronted his brother on the front porch of the home, the affidavit says.

The shotgun discharged and struck Williams in the right side of the head, killing him instantly, the affidavit said.

An autopsy was ordered.

Cameron police and Texas Rangers are investigating.
