Temple: Neighbors host benefit to raise funds for children's funerals

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Funeral arrangements have now been set for two Temple children who were found dead in their home on September 30th.

Family members of the children confirmed that the funeral for Teric and Janea Boyd will be held on Oct. 25 at the Branford Dawson funeral home.

Sunday in the 1400 block of South 35th street in Temple, the neighborhood where the children lived, neighbors came together to throw a block party in hopes to raise funds to help pay for that funeral....

Enchilada plates were sold, with all of the proceeds going directly to the funeral home.

Cristina Duran who lives near the home where the children died has been spearheading fundraising for the family. She says Sunday was about healing for the community.

“It’s a closing, a grieving period for our neighborhood,” said Duran. “We have a lot of kids in this neighborhood, and we're all parents. We want the community to know, reach out to your neighbor, go out and get to know them.”

Donations to help with funeral costs can be made directly to the Branford Dawson funeral home in Temple.

Authorities have not released information about the cause of the deaths of the two children.
