One arrested in raid on local smoke shop that housed illegal game room

One person was arrested Thursday afternoon as officers raided a Waco discount tobacco shop that police say housed an illegal game room.

Abdullah Ahmen Ali-Yawanesh, 55, was taken into custody after SWAT and undercover officers served warrants at around 2 p.m. Thursday at Smoke-N-More Discount Cigarettes at 1929 West Waco Dr.

Police are cracking down on illegal game rooms because of the other activity they attract, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

"Keep in mind, if you are running an illegal gambling operation in Waco, chances are we have already been in your business. Most likely we will be back with a search warrant at some point," he said.
