KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Police officers swarmed the Ellison High School campus in Killeen just before students arrived Wednesday morning.

“Earlier this morning, police were in pursuit of a stolen car,” Principal David Dominguez said in a message to parents.

“The driver ditched the car at Ellison High School and ran onto the campus in and amongst the portable buildings just prior to students arriving for class,” he said.

“All students and staff are safe and we will have an increased police presence on the campus today,” he said.

The vehicle theft was reported just before 8 a.m. in the 4600 block of Trimmier Road, police said.

While officers were en route, they were notified that the stolen vehicle was in the area of the high school.

The female driver was arrested and was taken to the Killeen City Jail.

No further details were released.
