Overnight shooting sends 19-year-old to local hospital

A shooting in Killeen sent a 19-year-old to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
Police responded to the 2800 block of Leroy Circle at around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of gunfire.
Officers found the victim at the scene.
He was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
He is currently in stable condition, police said.
"Witnesses told officers that the victim was in a verbal altercation with another male and at some point the suspect discharged a firearm at the victim," police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said.
"The suspect fled the area northbound," she said.
