Veteran missing for weeks has been found

A man who disappeared almost four weeks ago after a stay at a local VA hospital has been located, police said Monday.

Police asked for the public's help last week in the search for the missing veteran.

Michael Westbrook, 65, who’s from the Palestine area, was released from the hospital on Aug. 16, police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said, and family members reported him missing four days later on Aug. 20.

In an update Monday, Swanton said Westbrook "is safe and will no longer be considered a missing person with our department."

No further details were provided.
