KILLEEN (January 14, 2016) A 2-month-old boy remained in critical condition Thursday after a near-drowning Wednesday at a home daycare in the 3000 block of Bachelor Button Boulevard in Killeen.

Police remained tight-lipped about the incident Thursday, but did confirm the infant, whose name has not been released, remains in the pediatric intensive care unit of McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple.

Police did not release a specific address for the home or the name of the daycare facility, but Department of Family Protective Services’ records don't show a registered facility in the 1900 block of Bachelor Button, an agency spokeswoman said Thursday.

Officers and paramedics responded to the daycare just after 11:20 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report that a child was unresponsive, police said.

A resident was performing CPR on the 2-month-old boy when officers arrived, police said.

The infant was taken to McLane Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

The woman who owns the home and operates the daycare was giving the infant a bath when she heard a noise in the area where six toddlers including the boy’s sister were and went to investigate, leaving the boy in the tub, police said.

When she returned, the infant was face down in the water.
