Harker Heights police have responded to the second deadly shooting in the city in 24 hours.

The shooting was reported at around 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Clore Road where officers found an elderly man dead of a gunshot wound.

Police think the wound was self-inflicted.

“The deceased had considerable medical history and issues,” police said in a press release Wednesday.

The first shooting was reported at around 11:20 p.m. Monday.

The victim was found lying in a private driveway between two businesses in the 100 block of Central Texas Expressway.

“A probable identity was established on the white male; however, without any form of identification, the name is being withheld until the identity can be confirmed,” police said in a press release Tuesday.

An autopsy was ordered.
