LORENA, Texas (KWTX) Security was stepped up Friday on campuses in Lorena after a photo that “conveyed a potential threat” was circulated among students at Lorena Middle School.

Extra officers were at the campuses Friday, the Lorena Police Department said.

“We will have extra officers around the school and as always we investigate any perceived threats,” police said in a Facebook post.

“Get your little ones to bed so they can get up early, have a good breakfast and get to school on time.”

In a letter sent to parents, Superintendent Joe Kucera said the district was informed Thursday at the middle school of "a picture that was being circulated among the student body. The picture conveyed a potential threat to our schools."

Kucera says there was no known imminent threat to the schools.

"Significant measures have been taken to insure the safety and security of all students," the letter said.
