The Texas Rangers are leading an investigation after an officer-involved shooting in Killeen following a crash that involved an ambulance Friday night.
Police said officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Cross Timber Drive to assist EMS at 6:23 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found an ambulance involved in a crash.
Police said a man charged toward an officer, forcing the officer to discharge their weapon.
DPS confirmed Saturday the male suspect was injured.
The man was transferred to the hospital and continues to receive care, but his condition was not released.
The investigation forced the neighborhood to temporarily close as officers spent several hours outside a home.
Police said the officer will be placed on administrative leave.
A neighbor said they heard several gunshots in a community he said was normally very quiet.
