Joshua DaSilva, 20, of Killeen, remained in the Bell County Jail Friday charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to identify in connection with a shooting late Tuesday morning near a McDonald’s restaurant in downtown Killeen that left a teenager injured.

He’s held in lieu of bonds totaling $203,000.

The first reports of gunfire came in at around 11:55 a.m. in the 100 block of Rancier Avenue.

Multiple shots were fired.

Police said an altercation led to the shooting.

The 18-year-old victim was flown to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple in serious condition, police said.

The suspect ran toward a nearby apartment complex and was arrested at around 12:15 p.m. after a foot chase.

Nearby West Ward Elementary School at 709 West Dean Ave. was placed on external lockdown because of the shooting.
