Police made an arrest Tuesday in a weekend restaurant robbery attempt that left a worker shot.

Leonard Black was arrested for aggravated robbery at a home in McGregor where he lives with his grandmother.

Beverly Hills police, alongside the McLennan County Sheriff's Office FAST Unit and the U.S. Marshals made the arrest.

"I made that little girl a promise, and when I called that mama and told her, you could hear the whole house over my cell phone," said Beverly Hills Police Chief Thomas Schmidt.

"It was just unbelievable."

Black was charged with aggravated robbery, but Schmidt said he will work with the McLennan County District Attorney's Office to see if any additional charges will be filed.

Beverly Hills police said Black is the only suspect and say he walked in the Little Caesars on South Valley Mills Drive Saturday afternoon to rob it.

Schmidt says GPS information from a vehicle shows Black close to the scene minutes before the shooting, and video shows him running away.

Schmidt also took time to comment on the randomness of the shooting, and knows his community is not immune to crime.

“Look here in Virginia. We just had a massive shooting. It doesn’t matter how big your town is, it can happen.”

A tip Tuesday morning led to the arrest.

"It might be the littlest tip, but it might be the one that breaks the case wide open," said Schmidt.

No money was exchanged but the suspect reportedly fired a round, hitting a female employee.

Police say the victim was taken to Baylor Scott and White, Hillcrest and was released later Saturday evening.
