A petition drive is underway that the organizer hopes will convince military officials to work with the Chick-fil-A chain to open restaurants on U.S. military installations including Fort Hood.

The drive was launched on the website change.org by Emily Carby of Aurora, Colo., who says in the petition that Chick-fil-A is “currently one of the most wholesome, happy and beloved fast food chains to exist in America today.”

The petition has only been up for two weeks, and by Thursday morning about 50,000 people had signed it including Fort Hood residents.

Supporters include military spouses and base workers who say they want more healthy food options and that Chick-fil-A service aligns with military values.
