Weather was a factor in a head-on crash Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 77 in Golinda that left a Central Texas woman dead, authorities said.
Carol Pruitt, 57, of Lott, died at the scene after her northbound GMC SUV hydroplaned on wet pavement, crossed into the southbound lane and collided head on with an oncoming 18-wheeler, Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard said.
The accident happened just before 8 a.m. Wednesday east of FM 2939 in Golinda.
The rig’s driver was taken to a Waco hospital, he said.
