Reward increased in unsolved 2004 murder of Central Texas woman
The Texas Department of Public Safety Tuesday increased the reward for information leading to an arrest in the August 2004 murder of a Central Texas woman who was found shot to death in her home to $6,000 in hopes of generating new leads in the 15-year-old unsolved case.
Katara Deboise Johnson, 21, drove to her home on North Dolan Street in Taylor on Aug. 25, 2004 after working at late shift at a Taco Bell.
The next day she was found dead in the home.
Her red Mitsubishi Lancer had been stolen, but was later found at the Thorndale Community Pool.
“Johnson was a vibrant, young woman who, just prior to her death, had hosted a gathering at the Taylor Community Center,” the DPS said Tuesday.
Texas Rangers are investigating the case along with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit and the Taylor Police Department.
