ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) Police are crediting a Robinson woman’s 15-year-old son with restraining a man who was evidently attempting to rape her.

The suspect, John Wayne Morris, 37, of Robinson, remained in the McLennan County Jail Monday charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault, according to online records.

His bond had not been set as of Monday afternoon.

Officers arrived at the woman’s home in the 100 block of North McLendon just after 11:30 p.m. last Thursday following a report of a possible burglary in progress.

“Upon arrival Robinson police officers were notified by two visible upset teenagers outside of the residence that someone had broken into their home.”

In a bedroom at the rear of the residence, officers found Morris on top of the teenage boy, who had his arms around Morris’ neck, police said in a press release.

The boy’s mother told officers “she was awakened by Morris straddling her and holding her shoulders down,” police said.

She said she screamed, but said “Morris threatened her by telling her that he had someone watching her children and that they would kill them,” police said.

She told officers her teenage son entered the bedroom and restrained Morris until police arrived.

Morris evidently entered through an unlocked door, police said.
