WACO, Texas (KWTX) The Falls County Sheriff's Office is investigating a rollover on Highway 6 near the spot where Deputy Matt Jones was struck and killed by a vehicle on October 11, 2019.

Sheriff Ricky Scaman said Thursday's wreck happened shortly after 9 a.m. at Highway 6 and County Road 118. The wreck involved a single vehicle, a black Chevrolet Impala.

Scaman said three people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Scaman said it had been raining at the time of the wreck and slippery road conditions were likely a factor in the wreck.

Jones, 30, was struck by a hydroplaning Mazda sedan as he assisted a driver whose vehicle evidently slid off the road at State Highway 6 and County Road 109 south of Riesel.

Jones died at the scene. Riesel police Chief Danny Krumnow, 62, was also injured in that wreck. Krumnow spent several weeks in the hospital recovering from serious injuries.
