SWAT team responds to standoff at local hotel

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The Killeen police Department’s Tactical Response Unit responded Monday after a 47-year-old man barricaded himself inside a room at the Executive Inn & Suites at 1601 East Central Texas Expressway, and officers ultimately deployed a K-9 to end the three-hour standoff.

The standoff started after officers responded just after 9:50 a.m. Monday to a report of a standoff at the hotel.

The man, whose name was not released, ignored the officers’ commands to come out of the room, police said.

The dog was deployed at around 12:40 p.m.

The man was taken to AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen for treatment of minor injuries.

He was named in a warrant issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, police said.
