SALADO, Texas (KWTX) The Village of Salado has named Central Texas College Police Academy Director Pat Boone as its new police chief.
"The Village is very fortunate to have the opportunity to hire a person with the background and experience that Mr. Boone brings," Village Administrator Ferguson said
Boone has headed CTC’s police academy since 2013 after spending 17 years with the Killeen Police Department.
He’s a Master Peace Officer and a graduate of the FBI National Academy who holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Tarleton State University.
His first day on the job is April 1.
He’ll be paid $74,500 annually.
Boone replaces Rick Ashe, a veteran law enforcement officer who announced in late November that he was stepping down to take a new position as chief of police in Kenedy, a town of about 3,300 residents between San Antonio and Beeville.
Ashe, a veteran Temple police officer and former Salado alderman and mayor, was named the village’s police chief in May 2017.
