AXTELL, Texas (KWTX) The Axtell School Board has proposed termination for a high school Social Studies teacher who was put on paid administrative leave earlier this month amid an investigation of allegations of inappropriate interactions with students.

The board voted Monday night to propose termination of Matt McGilvary's contract.

Axtell ISD Superintendent J.R. Proctor says McGilvary still has "possible months of due process."

"In Monday night’s meeting, after a closed door session, we did not stipulate the reason for termination due to the fact that there is still an ongoing investigation," Proctor said Wednesday.

Proctor recommended the termination and the board voted to approve the proposal.
