KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Three teenagers were taken into custody after a chase during which the driver of a stolen pickup truck rammed a Killeen police unit and attempted to run down a Killeen police officer who was forced to fire at the vehicle.
The pursuit started after an officer spotted the stolen truck at around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Cranford Avenue and 40th Street, police said.
The driver of the pickup led officers on a short pursuit toward South Twin Creek Drive and Creekside Drive south of Killeen High School when he reached a dead end.
“The suspect rammed into a police unit and made U-turn, attempting to run over an officer forcing the officer to discharge his weapon,” police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said in a press release Thursday night.
The driver turned onto Owl Hollow Circle where the chase ended when the truck struck a house, she said.
The driver ran, but officers caught him just before 3 p.m.
Two other teenagers who were riding in the vehicle were detained as well.
No one was hurt, she said.
