Secret Service sees spike in phony $50 bills in Central Texas
The U.S. Secret Service says it has seen a significant increase in the number of counterfeit $50 bills being passed in Central Texas.
Most of the counterfeit $50 bills are being passed in Bell and McLennan counties, authorities said Wednesday.
The number of counterfeit $50 bills passed in Central Texas has almost tripled since September, despite some arrests.
The agency is advising residents and businesses to be cautious when accepting $50 bills.
