KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Security was stepped up Friday at Manor Middle School in Killeen in response to an anonymous threat of violence that was posted on Instagram.

“KISD Police are aggressively investigating to identify and apprehend the perpetrator,” Killeen school district spokesman Terry Abbott said in a press release Friday.

Killeen ISD has increased the police presence at the school and is taking other appropriate measures to maintain the safe learning environment. The school remained safe and secure Friday,” he said.

The school’s principal, Rhea Bell, notified parents about the threat by phone Friday and praised the students who saw the threat and reported it.

“We are proud of our students who saw this social media threat and immediately told school officials about it, which allowed us to immediately contact police. We encourage all our students to always report anything they see or hear that could threaten the security of the school,” she said.
