A service is scheduled Friday for a soldier from College Station who died in a head-on crash on March 31 in Milam County.

Nathan Ellard, 20, was a 2017 graduate of College Station High School, where he was a power-lifter.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation.

A Life Tribute Celebration for Ellard will be at 4 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Bryan.

Ellard and Crystal Ranslem, 32, of Temple, were killed in the crash just after 8 a.m. March 31 on FM 485 about 11 miles east of Hearne.

Ellard was westbound in a 2005 Mazda when his car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the 2018 Nissan SUV that Ranslem was driving, the Department of Public Safety said.

Ellard died at the scene.

Ranslem was taken to Scott & White Medical Center where she later died.

She worked as a security guard at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and was on her way from Temple for work at the time of the crash.

A memorial service for Ranslem was held on April 4 at the Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson.
