SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) A 4-year-old child suffered non-life-threatening injuries when a driver accidentally backed into a crowd at Sherman's Hot Summer Nights free concert Thursday night in downtown Sherman.

Police said the elderly driver accidentally hit the group of people with her SUV as they were waiting in line at a port-a-potty near the municipal building at around 8:20 p.m.

Police said the driver failed to put the car into drive, after pulling out of a parking space and backed into the crowd.

Intoxication was not a factor in the crash, police said.

Of the seven who were struck, four were children and three were adults, police said.

The 4-year-old, was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the city said in a Facebook post.

Texas country artist Chris Knight was the performer at Thursday's event, and the show continued a short time later.

Hot Summer Nights are scheduled each Thursday evening on the Sherman Municipal Lawn this month.
