Killeen: Police identify victims in 2 separate fatal shootings
Killeen police Friday identified the shooting victims in two separate shootings from earlier this week.
Police say Jonathan Eliel Martinez-Cruz died at a local hospital after he was found lying in a parking lot Wednesday night.
Officers found Martinez-Cruz, 19, after responding to a report of the shooting at around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 3900 block of Old FM 440.
He was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m.
No arrests have been made in the shooting.
An unrelated shooting less than an hour earlier Wednesday night just four miles away claimed the life of 48-year-old Luis Eddie Cosme.
Officers responded at around 9 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 2100 block of Reese Creek Road after police received a report of a shooting and possible kidnapping.
Cosme, a veteran, tried to intervene in a fight between the woman and a man now identified as 25-year-old Bryan Jamal Dunn.
Dunn, from the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling military base in Washington, D.C., is accused of fatally shooting Cosme, forcing the woman into his car at gunpoint and driving away from the scene.
Police say Dunn and the woman were later found in Round Rock.
Cosme was pronounced dead at the scene just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Bell County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case Friday and charged Dunn with murder. He is currently in the Bell County Jail with bond set at $1,000,000.
