A shooting victim whom Killeen officers found after responding early Wednesday morning to a report of gunfire died at a local hospital, police said.

Police Wednesday afternoon identified the victim as Michael Cirilo, 32.

Officers were sent at around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday to the 2200 block of Jennifer Drive where they found Cirilo.

The officers “immediately started to perform lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived,” police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said Wednesday.

He was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m.

A neighbor who asked to remain anonymous said she heard gunshots.

"Two shots went off,” she said.

After the gunfire stopped, she went outside and saw bullet casings on the ground, bullet holes in the doors of two upstairs apartments and the victim’s feet.

"For this to be that close where I thought it was somebody at my door, it doesn't feel too safe,” she said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS.
