ELM MOTT, Texas (KWTX) McLennan County deputies were investigating Monday after shots were fired at two local residents who were robbed after meeting up in Elm Mott with someone with whom they’d arranged to sell an item.

Three suspects showed up for the meet between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday in a secluded area near Bode Road and Old Dallas Highway.

"The victims, a man and a woman, made arrangements to meet someone to sell them an item, however, they were double-crossed by who came and robbed and gunpoint," said sheriff’s Capt. Steve January.

The suspects not only stole the unspecified item the victims were trying to sell, but also took the victims’ wallets and cellphones and then fired at the two as they left, January said.

No one was hurt, January says.

Authorities would not identify the item the two were trying to sell, but did say it was nothing illegal.

Investigators are currently attempting to find the three suspects and believe they have one of them identified.
