Crews worked into the night to repair a sinkhole on a busy Killeen street and officials took steps Wednesday morning to ensure the safety of children who walk through the area to Manor Middle School.
The sinkhole formed Tuesday in the 1700 block of south W.S. Young Drive in Killeen.
W.S. Young is closed to traffic between Illinois Avenue and Arkansas Avenue and will remain closed through next Tuesday for drainage and roadway repairs after city employees discovered that a drainpipe had failed.
Traffic will be detoured until the repairs are completed.
