TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) People with loved ones buried at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple cemetery are angry and frustrated.

Half a dozen expensive brass vases vanished last week.

Families have been stopping by to check on gravesites.

Word has been spreading quickly on social media that six brass vases, valued at $500 to $600 have vanished.

As a result, many families showed up Monday to see if their loved ones' graves had been touched.

Members of everal of the families to whom KWTX spoke say this isn't the first time it happened.

Benches, lights, flags, and flowers have also disappeared, they say.

“It's really disappointing to think that once you're on the earth, that those kinds of things wouldn't happen to you," said David Hudgens, whose parents are buried at the cemetery.

Most of the people to whom we spoke say they believe the crooks are taking the vases to the scrapyard for cash.

They say they would like the cemetery to step up its security and add cameras.

And hope whoever is behind this is caught.

Bellwood Memorial is a privately owned cemetery.

Bellwood officials did not respond to a request for comment.
