TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Police were investigating late Friday afternoon following the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area near the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System campus in Temple.

Police were notified at around 1:45 p.m. Friday of the discovery of the bones in the 1600 block of South Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, just east of the William R. Courtney State Veterans Home.

“An initial investigation indicates that these believed to be human remains, although the origins remain unknown,” police said in a brief press release.
