Fort Hood Wednesday identified a soldier who died of a gunshot wound near the post’s Sportsmen’s Center as Spc. Bernardino Guevara, Jr., 21, of Roxbury Mass.

Guevara was found unresponsive Monday and later died, a post spokesman said Monday.

The death is under investigation, Fort Hood said in a press release Wednesday.

No further details were released.

Guevara joined the Army in September 2014 and had been assigned since March to Fort Hood’s 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

The Sportsmen’s Center, which includes skeet, target, and archery ranges, a pro shop and a horse boarding stable, aims to further interest in hunting, fishing, archery, and recreational gun use.

It's open to the public.
