Standout military graduate enters medical corps amid pandemic
A Midway ISD graduate and member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets is joining the medical field amid the COVID19 pandemic.
"Everyone needs to stay flexible, and I think a big part of my success is because of the wonderful educators at Midway High School, and my experiences here at Texas A&M in the Corps of Cadets," he said.
Duncan Russell is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with the goal of becoming a psychologist in the military.
And while he's been accepted into graduate school he's putting it on hold so serve in the Army Medical Corps.
Russell recently took the oath to become an officer in a small ceremony.
He talked about what it's like to see the culmination of years of work in these strange times.
"This wasn't a typical graduation and commissioning ceremony, and despite the COVID19 pandemic, I'm so thankful to have my friends and family here with me. I'm looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me," Russell told us.
Now the distinguished military graduate will be serving at Fort Sam Houston then South Korea.
