WACO, Texas (KWTX) A suspect was in custody Monday in connection with a shooting at a Halloween night party at a Waco apartment complex that left a 22-year-old father of a 6-month-old infant dead.

Hillsboro police arrested Jamarine Jashan Long on Friday afternoon on a warrant stemming from the shooting death of D’airse Holder, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Monday.

The shooting stemmed from an argument during the party at the Grove Apartments at 2826 South University Parks Dr.

The argument led to a fight, during which one of the partygoers pulled a handgun and began shooting, Swanton said at the time.

Others at the party drove Holder to a local hospital where McLennan County Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson later pronounced him dead.

A second victim, identified as Davion Hawkins, was also was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries.

He was later released.

Swanton said both victims were guests at the complex party, but neither lived in the complex.
