Teen arrested after local resident reports person checking car doors

WACO, Texas (KWTX) Officers arrested a teenager early Friday after police received a report that someone was checking car doors in a North Waco neighborhood.

Jack James Whitaker, 18, was arrested in the area of North 33rd and Wenz Avenue after a brief chase, Officer Garen Bynum said Friday.

He’s named in outstanding warrants charging burglary of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and evading arrest or detention, Bynum said.

Officers were sent at around 6:45 a.m. Friday to the area of North 29th Street and Mitchell Avenue in response to the resident’s report.

They spotted a suspect, who tried unsuccessfully to run.
