A teenage girl is dead after police believe she suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Robinson Wednesday evening.

Police responded to the 700 block of East Stegall Drive around 7:30 p.m.

Officers said they found a 14-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the chest behind a barn-like building that appeared to be under construction.

They said the girl was unresponsive at the scene and they immediately began to perform CPR.

She was rushed to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said her body will be sent for an autopsy.
